Amber Wallace has a degree in Creative Studies and a background in written and visual communication. She works with clients on strategic web planning and development to create an on-brand web presence and complimentary marketing materials, and to establish and monitor search engine marketing campaigns. Her experience includes search engine optimization, web design and development, user interface design, information architecture, publication design, editing and small business entrepreneurship.
She continues to work in the publishing world and handles a variety of copy-writing and editing projects. She is co-editor of AfroGEEKS: Beyond the Digital Divide and managing editor of the academic journal Screening Noir. In addition to running Dowitcher Designs, she works as a web development counselor for webmarketingtherapy.com and teaches web design at UCSB Extension.
Jill Kingdon earned a degree
in art from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she quickly was drawn to painting and digital media. By her senior
year, she fused these two media and completed elaborate projects involving
custom vinyl cuts, large format prints, and unique paintings as part of the
UCSB art department honors program. Her work was displayed in numerous shows
on campus including the annual University Art Museum undergraduate show where
she received the best in show award.
After graduating with a degree in art, Jill jumped into the field of graphic production and design as a pre-production manager at a local Santa Barbara print shop. With a large client base, Jill processed hundreds of projects during her time at the shop and learned the importance of file set-up, font choice, color, usability, and effective use of resources. This knowledge of the printing and finishing processes continues to inform her design decisions. With strong production experience, Jill soon took a position as the lead graphic designer at a mid-size telecommunications company. While learning the numerous acronyms involved with telecom, she created newsletters, brochures, and flyers under the corporate brand and helped redesign the company website and prepare for tradeshows.
Jill is a graduate of the Women’s Economic Ventures Self Employment Training program, and her skills include developing creative design solutions, custom graphics and branding identity for web and print media.
