The Science of SEO Success
You know I love a good marketing infographic based on the periodic table.
So when I was linked to Search Engine Land’s Periodic Table of SEO Success Factors, you know I had to share.
The table is a collection of “elements” that inspire SEO success both on-the-page (that is, those which are directly in the control of the publisher) and off-the-page (those which are influenced by readers and others). Each element is weighted along a scale of 1-3, with 3 being the most important. They’re further organized vertically by category such as content, architecture, HTML, trust, links, personal, and social.
As with anything in life there are also negative elements that can decrease value and subsequently rankings. Some of them are obvious — “spamming” other websites with links back to your site isn’t going to earn you a whole lot of success — but others less so. For example, “stuffing” your content with keywords in hopes of getting a search engine ranking boost is actually detrimental to your cause!
Good SEO is worth its weight in gold and this table is a handy reminder of how each SEO factor is interrelated. There’s never any 100% guarantee of top results, but focus on the top row of this periodic table and you’ll be well on your way to success.
