First Impressions of the Liquid Image Xtreme Sport Camera

Recently I attended Vita Travel’s grand opening in downtown Santa Barbara. It was a fun party and as part of the celebration they raffled off a number of covetable travel items including luggage, clothing, and high-tech gadgets. And to my surprise it turns out I was the lucky winner of a Liquid Image Xtreme Sport Camera “LIC” in vibrant canary yellow!
This camera just looks fun — it’s small and lightweight, easily fitting in the in palm of your hand. The kit includes a tripod adapter and a clip to easily attach to a helmet. Plus, the camera connects to a phone or other mobile device via wifi.
The fun part: testing
After charging the battery and purchasing a micro SD memory card, I downloaded the Liquid Image app on my iPhone so I could start playing. As promised, the camera and phone connect quite easily and the app serves as a handy view screen for taking photos and playing back videos. One small downside is the delay on the phone screen when moving the camera around. I was also slightly disappointed that the wifi connection is lost when the camera is taking video, so the app cannot be used as a viewer at that time.
This weekend our beautiful town was decked out in all its glory for the annual Old Spanish Days Fiesta, and I saw a great opportunity to shoot my first video at the parade. Here’s a short clip — I was impressed with the image quality.
The bottom line
Overall, the Liquid Image Xtreme is a fun, easy-to-use camera and I’m looking forward trying out some action videos next. Thanks, Vita Travel! Now if only my next trick could be to win the Lottery…
