Social Strategy: Should Your Small Business be on Pinterest?

For many of our clients, particularly small business owners, taking the plunge into social media marketing can feel incredibly overwhelming at first. It seems like there is a hot new social media platform or app creating buzz on an almost-weekly basis. Who has the time or resources to keep up with all the Vines, Twitters, and Instagrams of the world? Big brands like Ford and Coca-Cola can afford to experiment with all the newest trends, but for everyone else, successfully leveraging every possible social media platform out there simply isn’t feasible.

When we begin strategizing social media marketing plans with our clients, we like to start by figuring out exactly who their target customers are and where these target audiences are most likely spending their time online. And that’s why I want to share with you this great infographic by Column Five Media for Intuit. While it’s specific to Pinterest, it serves as an awesome example of the type of decision-making process we go through to identify and engage the right social media channels for our clients’ businesses.

Every company is different, and every customer base is different. It’s important not to jump blindly into a new social media marketing platform “just because.” Your time and resources are valuable! Channel them accordingly into what best fits your unique goals.
