I don’t know about you, but I hate how the holidays seem to start earlier and earlier every year. Just recently I saw a picture a friend posted of a Christmas display inside of a popular department store — at the end of September. Retailers! Come on! Can’t you at least wait until after Halloween before setting out the red and green baubles?

But as much as I can’t stand the holiday creep as a consumer, I have a deep respect for early holiday planning as a social marketer. Campaigns take time to plan and the holiday season — which is typically the biggest cash cow of the year for most retailers — is something businesses can’t afford to take lightly.

The infographic culled information from over 120 marketing professionals to identify predictions for the upcoming holiday season. I don’t want to give away too much, but let’s just say that social marketing is where it’s at.

This season, in particular, consumers are expected to spend $602 billion, an anticipated increase of 8% from last year. Don’t get left in the cold!
